Effective October 4, 2026
Your LinkedIn export. The files you import are read on your device. The results are saved in your private iCloud Drive app folder (or only on the device if iCloud is off, and on Android). Nobody else can read them.
Notes, stars, follow-ups and corrections you add are saved the same way.
Contacts (optional). If you allow it, Bearings matches your connections to your iPhone Contacts on the device to show their photo and estimate where they are. Contact data is never uploaded. Matched photos are kept only on the device.
Calendar (optional). If you allow it, Bearings reads upcoming events on the device to prepare meeting briefs and spot trips. Event details are not uploaded or stored by the developer.
Location (optional). If you allow it, your current location is used on the device to show who’s nearby. It isn’t stored or uploaded.
Place lookups. When you search for a city or set a location, the place name is looked up with Apple’s mapping service, under Apple’s privacy policy. Phone-number and city data for estimating locations is built into the app and works offline.
Salesforce (optional). If you connect Salesforce, Bearings sends the people, follow-ups and notes you choose directly from your device to your organization’s Salesforce, signing in with Salesforce (OAuth). Sign-in tokens are kept in your device’s keychain. That data is then governed by your organization’s Salesforce agreement.
Apple Watch. A summary of the people you’re likely to act on is sent from your iPhone to your paired Apple Watch through Apple’s Watch connection.
Crash reports. iOS may give Bearings anonymous crash and performance reports. They stay on your device and are only sent if you choose Send feedback and send the email yourself.
Purchases. Any purchase is handled by Apple. The developer receives no payment details.
Bearings has no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
Bearings is a professional networking tool and isn’t directed at children under 13.
You can turn off Contacts, Calendar and Location access at any time in iOS Settings, disconnect Salesforce in the app, and delete everything by deleting the app and its iCloud data (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Bearings).
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Questions: [email protected].
Bearings includes place data from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and Google’s libphonenumber (Apache 2.0), and the Geist typeface (SIL Open Font License).
